Packing for a month-long yoga teacher training in India requires a balance between practicality and minimalism. Here's your complete, field-tested packing list.

Yoga Practice Essentials

  • Yoga mat — Bring your own if you have a favorite
  • 2–3 pairs of comfortable yoga pants/leggings
  • 4–5 loose t-shirts or tank tops
  • Notebook and pens — You'll take extensive notes

Clothing for Daily Life

India — especially Tapovan, Rishikesh — is conservative.

  • Modest clothing — Shoulders and knees covered for temples
  • Light layers — Mornings can be cool, especially Oct to Mar
  • Walking shoes — For weekend treks. Check seasonal weather

Health & Toiletries

  • Sunscreen SPF 50
  • Insect repellent
  • Basic medications — Anti-diarrheal, painkillers, electrolytes
  • Water bottle with filter

What NOT to Pack

  • Too many clothes — Laundry is cheap (~₹100 per kg)
  • Expensive jewelry — Simplicity is the vibe
  • Excessive electronics — Consider a digital detox
